Berlin named one of country's top hunting and fishing towns Berlin has been named one of the top 200 towns in the country for hunting and fishing. The city is number 158 on the list complied by the national sporting magazine, 'Outdoor Life' in its April issue. The
magazine said it looked at population centers with over 4,000,
examining quality of life factors as well as rating the towns from a
sporting perspective. Outdoor Life said it placed a heavier
emphasis on sporting qualities. Towns were judged on the hunting and
fishing opportunities they offered, the trophy quality of the sporting
opportunities, restrictiveness of gun laws, access to public land, and
whether hunting and fishing is good year-round. Berlin is the only
community in New Hampshire to make the list. Other New England
communities on the list include Burlington and Rutland, Vt.,
Cumberland, Presque Isle, and Bangor, Me., and Plymouth and Adams,
Mass. The magazine listed Mountain Hole, Ark., as its top
community in the county for hunting and fishing. The community was
described as offering " big-fish diversity in a laid-back Ozarks
valley". Outdoor life is owned by Timer Warner and is a sister
magazine of Field & Stream. According to the on-line encyclopedia,
Wikipedia, the magazine has a circulation of 925,000. The article can be accessed at the magazine's web site, www.outdoorlife.com.
